HER TRIBE HAD A ROUGH DAY, HADN’T THEY ? only about twelve of them went on the mission raven lead — it was supposed to be an easy heist in a village just twenty miles south of mistral. in the end they were successful ; the strongest of the members carrying back bags of stolen goods despite the fight put up against them. bruises, scars, burns — they were nothing new, yet raven quickly realized by heavy breaths &. stifled moans that her bandits needed some time to rest.
‘ enough. we’ll settle here &. build a fire for the night. ‘
amongst those chosen for the mission was raven’s young apprentice, vernal. it wasn’t unusual for the tribe to raise strong, UPSTART children, though vernal was another matter entirely. if the little one was right, no one knew where she was — &. they wouldn’t be finding her anytime soon. as raven took her spot on the dirt in front of the fire she couldn’t help but think about how powerful spring truly was… that is until the maiden curled up at her side &. settled her head right in the leader’s lap.
shock was the only thing keeping any insults or aggressive actions at bay. the chieftess should have shoved the spring maiden right back onto the dirt she so seemingly acquainted with, but something held raven back from pushing vernal away. sighing out in resignation, the former huntress reached tentative digits forward until raven was slowly combing through spring’s short hair. vernal was one of them through &. through. raven already knew the CRUEL fate in store for her — if only they could keep hiding, keep running.
‘ rest well, little leaf. the sun will rise again soon. ‘
