   terrifying .  she  understood  enough  about  the  powers ,  yes ,  but  not  enough  to  keep  her  sane  through  the  process .  (  she  didn’t  regret  running .  )

      ‘  i  lost  every  freedom  i  had .  nowhere  was  safe  for  me ,  i  was  constantly  watching  my  own  back  -  it  was  horrible ,  to  be  blunt .  be  grateful ,  kid .  you  aren’t  near  as  young  as  i  was ,  but … well .  i’m  sure  you  can  imagine .   ‘
